BOSTON (Reuters) - New England quarterback Tom Brady suffered a serious knee injury in the Patriots' 17-10 season-opening victory over the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday, media reports said.
Brady injured his left knee midway the first quarter when hit by Kansas City safety Bernard Pollard. He fell to the ground and grabbed his knee before limping off the field.
The Boston Globe said Brady, the key player in New England's unbeaten 2007 regular season and three Super Bowl titles, possibly tore cruciate ligaments in his knee and could be out for the season.
The Patriots would not confirm the reports. New England coach Bill Belichick said the 31-year-old Brady's injury could be serious and that he would undergo tests.
